Amitabh Bachchan is all set to play the stern character of ‘Yudh’ in his upcoming television series of the same name. In this series, we will see him essaying the role of a business tycoon. His actual name in this series is supposed to be Yudhistir Sikarwar, with its short form being ‘Yudh’, hence the title. We wonder if there’s any pun to the title and his name and whether the series revolves around some kind of war (Yudh means war). Recent reports tell us that the acclaimed actor will be seen without any make up for this role.
Big-B confirmed these reports as he said, “Keeping in mind that it was a directorial decision to make visuals look as real-life as possible, it was essential that the actors looked natural. That helped in the way our scenes were lit up and there were no special efforts to conceal defects, if any, on our faces. These factors work well in the overall look of the product”.
As we know all actors, whether male or female, compulsorily put on heavy make up for their respective shoots. It’s rare to see actors without make up. Some actors manage to look flawless even bare skinned, while the others remain unrecognizable without makeup. Since the creative director, Anurag Kashyap decided that he wants to give a real feel to this much hyped series, we think it was a fair decision to let the actors, including Amitabh Bachchan, appear on screen without any make up. It does have the ability to give the series a different feel that doesn’t seem made up. A fresh appeal perhaps, is much needed for the small screen audience that is so used to watching T.V stars even fall asleep with heavy makeup on in serials.
It wasn’t surprising to see Big-B turn to small screen as many Bollywood stars have done the same without any hesitation. Talented actor Aamir Khan has successfully become a part of the small screen with his reality series ‘Satya Mev Jayate’, which revolves around grave social issues that need immediate attention. Aamir has definitely succeeded in making a connection with the small screen audience as his show received positive reviews. Mr.Bachchan too has successfully been a part of the television world since a long time with his reality game show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, that was a hit with the audiences. He served as a powerful and confident host for this. Recently, we also witnesses Anil Kapoor make his television debut with the series ‘24’.
‘Yudh’ has been heavily promoted on various television channels with its commercial. Let’s see what this series serves the audience and whether it proves as a revolutionary change having a real feel , leaving behind the otherwise over the top television serials. The series is sure to generate a huge buzz, given the presence of the legendary actor, along with actors like Sarika, Kay Kay Menon and Nawazuddin Siddiqui among others. Add to this Anurag Kashyap and Shoojit Sircar as the creative director and series director respectively, this mix of big screen actors working in small screen ventures will surely be a pretty interesting watch.
